A small company should not need its own AI or DevOps team to make its knowledge useful. That is the problem KUOS — Knowledge Universe OS — is being designed to solve.

The starting point is simple: add company knowledge. Connect existing data. Create an Agent with a clear purpose. Build something useful. Test it, approve it and choose where it runs.

Knowledge before configuration

Your first task should be “add my company knowledge,” rather than “configure the operating system.” Company documents and authorized business data give an Agent context. Citations and permissions should make its answers easier to evaluate.

NixOS provides the declarative execution foundation underneath. KUOS defines the knowledge, Agent, Work, integration and application experience above it.

Keep the systems you already use

The Sidecar direction connects databases, CRM, ERP and legacy applications without forcing a migration. Read-only access comes first. Synchronization and controlled actions are separate decisions with separate permissions.

A future sales Agent could help identify inactive customers from approved data. An application team could turn that analysis into a dashboard. These are intended customer journeys, not demonstrations of features already shipping.

Build from intent

The planned Architect Agent translates a goal into an Application Blueprint before a coding Agent begins work. Build, test and preview come before publishing. People review important actions; deterministic policy defines what Agents may do.

The aim is useful outcomes with less administration. Boot-to-value in under ten minutes is a product target, not a measured result for the current preview.

What the preview establishes

The inspected console kit provides native Rust CLI diagnostics, local Markdown/text keyword indexing, role presets and advisory capability plans. Agent teams and Work have scaffolding; complete orchestration still needs implementation and validation. Read-only business-data Sidecars, integrated app builders, persistent Portable and a live Web Sandbox remain development targets.
